Whereas many organisations, individuals, philanthropists and opinion leaders are devoting time and resources to support the underprivileged, who are highly affected by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the Member of Parliament for Wa East, Hon Godfrey Bayon Tangu is nowhere to be found, neglecting his constituents.

The Wa East Constituency Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a statement signed by its Communications Officer Mahamudu Umar, described the actions of their legislator as a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by the constituents.

They revealed, that Hon Tangu has not been in the constituency for the past months in-spite of all that his colleague Members of Parliament are doing to help mitigate the challenges of their constituents in these trying times.

They further indicated, that “the attitude of the MP to always ran away and only return when he’s seeking for political favours is not only disrespectful to the constituency but an insult on the intelligence of the people he represents”

They, however, joined many to applaud the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw who has tremendously supported many communities in the constituency with veronica buckets, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and other relief items.

Dr Jasaw, who is also a Senior Lecturer of the University for Development Studies and respected alumni of the London School of Economics and Political Science, has spent appreciable time, moving around various communities with these relief items to educate, sensitise, advice and support the constituents on how to stay safe and healthier in these trying times.
