Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is set to face a spell on the sidelines again after suffering a fresh ankle injury, according to Leicester City manager Brandon Rodgers.
The Foxes will host Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday but Anartey will not partake in the game after sustaining an ankle injury last week in the build up to their FA Cup against Aston Villa.
It is however not serious as the one he picked up last year during their game against West Ham United which ruled him out for over six months.
During the side's pre-match interview, manager Brandon Rodgers confirmed that the versatile guardsman will sit out from the game due to injury.
"We’ve seen Daniel play there [centre-back] when he’s come back from injury but unfortunately he's not available for this game," added Rodgers. "He’s had a slight knock on his ankle.
"He hasn’t been involved so much. It’s been tough because he’s trained ever so well, but the team’s done ever so well, so he’s not been able to feature. He wouldn’t be up for consideration at this point in time."
Amartey has not played a competitive senior match since breaking his ankle against West Ham 15 months ago.
