FLASHBACK: How Badu Kobi advised Nyantakyi to step down

Founder and General Overseer of the Glorious Wave Church International, Prophet Badu Kobi in 2016 called on Kwesi Nyantakyi, the resigned President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The prophet had called on the embattled lawyer to step down because he had done enough for the FA. He was speaking in interview with Rainbow Radio’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi.

‘’Nyantakyi should step down because if he steps down, things will go in his favour,’’ he said, and when he was told Nyantakyi’s mandate has not being exhausted fully he said, ‘’you are saying his time is not yet up but I would advise him to step down. If he is not willing to step down now, he should not go for re-election.’’

At the time of the interview, the prophet as waded into the rift between Nyantakyi and the immediate past Sports minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye saying: ‘’I heard him attacking the former minister, I was shocked…He must be a leader and deviate from all those things,’’ he had said.

The prophet who made a number of revelations also called for the reconstitution of the Black Stars National Team.

The ill treatment meted out to the our former team members he lamented brought a curse on the national team.

The undercover investigation, captured in a documentary, entitled #Number 12, has since led to the resignation of the GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi who was secretly filmed engaged in alleged corrupt practices with undercover agents disguised as Arab investors interested in sponsoring Ghana football.

Mr Nyantakyi, who is also the First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football and a member of the FIFA Council, was last Thursday handed a 90-day worldwide ban from all football activities pending investigations by FIFA’s Ethics Committee.
