Fatawu Safiu has sent an emotional goodbye message to Asante Kotoko following his switch to Swedish side Trelleborgs FF.
Safiu left the Porcupine Warriors to join the Swedish side on a loan with an option to make it permanent.
The prolific sharpshooter took Facebook to express his gratitude to the Kumasi-based and promised return before calling time on his career.
It was a great pleasure to have represented this great club. Within a short period, this club has given me everything I have ever dreamt of. My appreciation goes to the board,technical staffs, teammates and of course not forgetting the love and support from the fantastic fans. The former Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps youngster netted thrice and assisted two in the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup.
He also scored 11 goals to help Asante Kotoko SC to clinch the Special Competition Tier 1 giving them the opportunity to represent Ghana in the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.
Following his outstanding performances for the Red side, Safiu was included in Ghana's provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
