Forget World Cup disaster, focus on AFCON - Sam Johnson
Former Black Stars player Sam Johnson has urged Ghana’s Black Stars to put the bad World Cup campaign behind them and forge a win against Uganda.
Sam Johnson also known as 'Foyoo' told Joy Sports, losing against the Cranes of Uganda in Kumasi is “going to bring another big problem on them."
Black Stars kickstart their qualification campaign for Africa Cup of Nations 2015 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi on Saturday.
It is their first game after Ghana crashed out of the World Cup in Brazil last June. The disappointing campaign is still under investigation following the setting up of the World Cup Commission of Inquiry by President John Mahama.
Football fans are said to have developed cold feet toward the idolized players. There is a lull in excitement ahead of the game in Kumasi.
Speaking on Sports Link on Joy FM about the encounter, Sam Johnson said a loss against Uganda is “going to be a disaster for them” because “nobody expects Uganda to come to Ghana and win."
He urged the Black Stars to “leave everything behind them and know that [they] have 90 minutes to play."
Sam Johnson, one of the old guards of the of the senior national team, the Black Stars quit the national team after he was excluded from the 22-man squad for the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Mali.
