Asante Kotoko new boy Habib Mohammed is set to start against ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup clash on Sunday, trainer Akonnor has hinted.
The former AshGold midfielder has played just a game for the Porcupine Warriors since joining them but looks set to start against ZESCO in the ultimate group clash of the competition.
With the team struggling with a lot of injuries, the former AshantiGold coach is preparing to hand Habibu Mohammed his a start at the club.
The versatile player is could start alongside Kwame Bonsu in midfield on Sunday.
“It’s possible he will start,” Akonnor said.
“We have that in mind, don’t forget he joined us late. Whatever we have done, he wasn’t here. It’s always going to take him some time.
“It different between he knows me and what I do. He has to know the team very well. He has to be breath in and in this is the period we had no time for that.
“But so far he has showed good signs in the matches that he played.
“It is possible he is going to start on Sunday,” he emphasized.
Asante Kotoko will have to beat Nkana FC in Zambia to secure qualification to the quarter finals of the competition.
