Andre Ayew’s swashbuckling hat-trick for Olympique Marseille on Friday dominates the headline for Ghanaian players abroad but Abdul Majeed Waris also returned from injury to score his 9th goal of the season for Valenciennes.

Jordan Ayew, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and Emmanuel Banahene all scored goals for their clubs over the weekend.

BELGIUM

Frank Acheampong is back from injury but was not in the Anderlecht team that thrashed Club Brugge 3-0 in the Championship Play-offs.

Standard Liege suffered their second defeat in five games after slipping to a 2-0 Zulte-Waregem. Black Stars full-back Daniel Opare came off the bench in the 46th minute to play for Liege.

Lokeren and KRC Genk played out a 1-1 drawn game at the Daknamstadion. Ghana midfielder Bennard Kumordzi was booked in the 62nd minute and played full time for Genk. Youngster Eugene Ansah came off the Lokeren bench in the 83rd minute.

In the Europa League play-offs, Sporting Charleroi held leaders Kortrijk to a 1-1 drawn game. Former Kpando Heart of Lions midfielder Abraham Kudemor came off the bench to play the last 3 minutes of regulation time plus added-time.

KV Mechelen managed to post a narrow 1-0 victory over Cercle Brugge.

French-born Ghanaian defender Jerry Vandam was sent off in the 90th minute but his compatriot Abdul Yakinu-Iddi was not in the Mechelen team for the game. In the Second Division, Kevin Tano played full time for FC Antwerp who drew 1-1 with SV Roeselare.

FRANCE

Black Stars winger Andre Ayew scored on 3rd, 60th and 76th minute marks to register his second career hat-trick and helped Olympique Marseille to a 3-1 victory over struggling Ajaccio in the French top-flight on Friday night.

Jordan Ayew scored a 45th minute header for Sochaux and played full throttle in their 2-2 draw with Bastia on Saturday night.

Defender Jonathan Mensah returned to action for Evian TG but started from the bench as he was introduced 12 minutes from time in their pulsating 1-1 draw at Lorient at the Stade Yves Allainmat – Le Moustoir.

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris returned from injury to score an consolation goal for Valenciennes who lost 2-1 against Lyon. The 22-year-old also missed a last-gasp penalty.

Black Stars defender John Boye also enjoyed some game time as he came off the Stade Rennes bench in the 80th minute during their 2-2 stalemate in the Ligue 1 on Saturday.

In the Ligue 2, AS Monaco loanee Dennis Appiah was a full-timer for Caen who moved three points within a promotion spot after posting a slim 1-0 win over second-place Lens.

In the CFA, former Ghana U17 attacker Charles Boateng was in action for Avranches who posted a narrow 1-0 victory over Trélissac.

Elsewhere in the CFA 2, French-born Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Osei was not in the Olympique Marseille II that were held to a 0-0 draw by Aubagne at the Stade Paul Le Cesne.

ENGLAND

Derek Boateng watched his Fulham side from the screen as they managed a surprising 2-1 away win over Aston Villa at the Villa Park.

Leicester City have all but guaranteed their place in next season’s English Premiership after posting a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night. German-born Ghanaian defender Jeffrey Schlupp played full-time for Leicester and was booked in the 48th minute. Schlupp was also involved in Leicester’s first game.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was unused by Barnsley in their 0-0 home draw with Brighton & Hove Albion. Barnsley finished the game with ten men.

Ex-Chelsea U21 captain Nana Ofori Twumasi was unused by Yeovil Town in their 2-1 away victory over Blackpool but was booked on the 90th minute mark for interfering with play while on the Yeovil bench.

Albert Adomah was replaced in the 93rd minute by Middlesbrough who coasted to a 1-0 home triumph over Derby County. GERMANY Kevin-Prince Boateng played the entire 90 minutes for Schalke 04 who drew 1-1 with Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion. But his compatriot Anthony Annan was unused by the Royal Blues.

German-born attacker Karim Bellarabi missed the Eintracht Braunschweig’s home game with Hannover 96 with a groin injury.

In the Bundesliga II, Ghana midfielder Charles Takyi played full throttle for Energie Cottbus who were held to a 0-0 home draw by Dynamo Dresden.

Marcel Appiah was in central defence for Arminia Bielefeld who suffered a 2-0 away defeat at FC Köln.

In the third-tier league, youngster Fredrick Kyereh was introduced in the 56th minute by Elversberg who shared the spoils in a 2-2 drawn game with Osnabrück. Jeff Gyasi played the entire game for Elversberg.

Denis Danso-Weidlich was a full-timer for Hansa Rostock who suffered a 4-3 loss at Hallescher FC.

Ghanaian utility attacker Philemon Ofosu-Aryeh was in action for MSV Duisburg in their 0-0 draw with Stuttgart II. 19-year-old attacker Erich Berko was not in the Stuttgart II team for the game.

Evans Owusu Nyarko lasted 85 minutes for Borussia Dortmund II in their 0-0 draw with Wacker Burghausen.

Randy Edwini-Bonsu played the first 45 minutes for Stuttgarter Kickers who pipped Saarbrücken 1-0.

DENMARK

Defender Dominic Oduro was not in the AGF team that suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Randers FC.

Midtjylland were beaten 3-2 by AaB in their to hand them their third defeat in five games. Defender Francis Dickoh started the game and was replaced by Ghanaian compatriot Kolja Afriyie.

Viborg held Odense BK to a 2-2 draw with ten men. Kevin Mensah started the game and was replaced in the 40th minute. Kevin’s twin brother Jeff Mensah also came off the bench in the 77th minute to replace Christian Poulsen.

Danish-born Danny Amankwaah was brought on by FC Copenhagen with just 9 minutes of regulation time when they defeated Sonderjyske 2-0.

Davidson Drobo-Ampem watched the entire match from the bench when his Esbjerg side slipped to a 1-0 away defeat against Brondby.

RUSSIA

Zenith Saint Petersberg confirmed their superiority over Rubin Kazan as they condemned them to a 6-2 defeat in the Russian Premier League. Wakaso Mubarak could not make the Kazan squad for the game.

Rabiu Mohammed was still out of the Kuban’ Krasnodar team that posted a 2-0 win over Tom’ Tomsk.

Patrick Twumasi was brought on in the 64th minute by Amkar Perm’ who slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Terek Grozny. Mohammed Fuseini sat on the Gronzny bench.

NORWAY

Stromsgodset and Viking shared the spoils in a 0-0 drawn game at the Viking Stadion. Ghana keeper Adam Kwarasey manned the post for Stromsgodset while midfielder Mohammed Abu also completed the entire 90 minutes.

Winger Ernest Asante lasted until the 70th minute for IK Start who fought from behind to post a 3-1 victory over Haugesund in the Norwegian top-flight. Former Hearts of Oak striker Mahatma Otoo was replaced on the 90th minute mark by Sogndal who drew with 1-1 with Sarpsborg 08.

Former Ghana U17 midfielder Enock Adu Kofi played the entire regulation minutes for Stabaek who fought from a goal down to beat FK Brann 2-1.

In the Adeccoligaen, Paul Addo played full time for Bryne who suffered a 3-1 away defeat against Mjondalen.

CYPRUS

Apollon Limassol were held to a 1-1 draw by AEL Limassol. Neither Razak Nuhu nor Carlos Ohene played in the game. Enoch Ebo Andoh was not in the AEL team.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko returned to action from suspension and played 90 minutes for Eski?ehirspor and helped them draw 0-0 with Akhisar Belediyespor. Richard Kingson manned the post for Balikesispors who drew 2-2 with Orduspor. Kwame Karikari missed the game with injury.

Neither Torric Jebrin nor Shaibu Yakubu was in the 1461 Trabzon team that drew 1-1 with Kar??yaka. Both players are nursing injuries.

NETHERLANDS

Heracles Almelo slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Go Ahead Eagles. Veteran striker Matthew Amoah played 72 minutes for Heracles while Kwame Quansah was introduced in the 44th minute as replacement for Bruns. Dutch-born winger Edwin Gyasi could not make the Heracles squad for the game.

Defender Kodjoe Amevor played full throttle for Go Ahead Eagles.

Elvis Manu was in full time action for Cambuur when they drew 1-1 with Nimegen. Youngster Shadrach Eghan was not in the FC Twente team that posted a 2-0 victory over NAC Breda. Jeffrey Sarpong played the entire match for Breda.

PEC Zwolle slipped to a 1-0 home loss to FC Groningen. Dutch-born defender Johan Kappelhof was booked in the 74th minute and completed the entire 90 minutes for his side. Striker Fred Benson was taken off just before the start of the second-half.

Dutch-born full-back Mitch Apau played the full 90 minutes for RKC Waalwijk who got beaten 2-0 by Feyenoord.

Christian Atsu played the full 90 minutes for Vitesse Arnhem who shared the spoils with Ajax Amsterdam in a 1-1 draw.

Almere City enhanced their chances of surviving relegation by beating Oss 3-0. Striker Jonathan Opoku played the full 90 mintes for Oss.

Erixon Danso was replaced after just 38 minutes by Dordrecht who slipped to a 3-1 away defeat against Willem II.

Swedish-born Ghanaian striker Patrick Amoah was unused by Fortuna Sittard who squeezed out a 3-2 victory from Sparta Rotterdam.

USA

Nana Attakora was unused by DC United who posted a 2-0 victory over New England Revolution.

Kofi Sarkodie played the entire 90 minutes for Houston Dynamo in their 4-1 home humiliation to FC Dallas.

Khalif Alhassan was in full time action for Portland Timbers who drew 4-4 with Seattle Sounders.

Patrick Nyarko was in 77 minutes of action for Chicago Fire who drew 2-2 with Philadelphia Union.

Columbus Crew were handed a 2-0 defeat by Toronto FC. Dominic Odouro played 88 minutes for Crew.

Vancouver Whitecaps suffered a 2-1 home loss to Colorado Rapids. Gershon Kwoffie was replaced after 58 minutes by Vancouver.

ITALY

Afriyie Acquah was booked in the 63rd minute and played full time for Parma who defeated Napoli 1-o on Sunday night.

Ghana midfielder Raman Chibsah came off the bench in the 84th minute to play for Sassuolo who coasted to a 2-0 away victory over Atalanta.

Catania are all but relegated from the Italian top-flight after suffering a 2-1 home loss to Torino. AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng sat on their bench but Emmanuel Gyasi was not in the Torino team for the game.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was booked in the 35th minute and played 85 minutes for Udinese who lost 2-1 at Fiorentina in the Serie A.

In the Serie B, Moro Al-Hassan was brought on in the 70th minute by Cesena who managed a 2-0 away victory over Ternana.

Former Inter Milan youngster Isaac Ntwo Tuah stole a place in the Brescia first team and played full time to help them beat Pescara 3-0. Mase Nana Addo Welbeck was not in the Brescia team for the game.

Maxwell Acosty could not get a starting place in Carpi’s side that beat Trapani 3-2 and was brought on to play the last 14 minutes of the game.

Fiorentina youngster Amidu Salifu returned to action for Modena and played the entire 90 minutes for them in their 3-1 voictory over Virtus Lanciano.

Masahudu Alhassan completed the full 90 minutes for Latina who recorded their second straight win after beating Reggina 1-0 at their own backyard.

SWEDEN

Helsingborg suffered their first defeat of the season after Norrköping summoned them to a 2-0 defeat. Attacker David Accam was booked in the 35th minute and played full time while Ema Boateng came off the bench in the 62nd minute. AIK Solna recorded their first win of the campaign after beating Gefle 2-1. Former New Edubiase United captain Moro Abubakar started the game and played 75 minutes for AIK while Ebenezer Ofori was brought on within the same 75th minute.

Edward Owusu and Rubin Quaison were not in the AIK squad for the game. Zakaria Abdullai was not picked by the Gefle manager for the game.

Djurgarden went to of the table for dispatch Halmstad BK 3-0. Daniel Amartey played the entire minutes for Djurgarden but Yussif Chibsah was unused. King Osei Gyan was booked in the 90th minute and played the full 90 minutes for Halmstad.

In Saturday’s only kick-off Right to Dream youngster Godsway Donyoh lasted 54 minutes for newly-promoted Falkenberg who pipped Brommapojkarna 1-0.

Nasiru Mohammed did not travel with the BK Hacken team when Elfsborg brushed them aside 2-1.

In the Superettan, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Boakye was in action for Östersunds FK who lost 1-0 to Ljungskile in the season opener.

SWITZERLAND

FC Sion shocked themselves with a vital 1-0 win over bottom-placed Lausanne Sport. Striker Ebenezer Assifuah came off the bench to play in the second half for Sion but Ishmael Yartey was unused.

Former Hearts of Oak striker Samuel Afum was unused by BSC Young Boys who recorded a crucial 2-1 win over Luzern.

In the Challenge League, Ghanaian-born Swiss international Kofi Ntiamoah Nimeley played for Locarno who lost 1-0 to FC Servette.

SCOTLAND

Prince Buaben came off the bench to play 36 minutes for Patrick Thistle who lost 4-2 against relegated Hearts of Midlothian.

SOUTH AFRICA

In the Absa Premier League Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi and Awal Mohammed helped Maritzburg United post a slim 1-0 win over Golden Arrows. Striker Yakubu Mohammed was unfit for the game but defender Seth Owusu was not in the Golden Arrows squad.

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila was unused as he warmed the bench fpr Mamelodi Sundowns in their 1-0 victory against leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Midfielder John Arwuah was in action for AmaZulu and helped them to defeat Free State Stars 2-1. While Arwuah was in action, keeper Daniel Agyei was bench by Stars.

SuperSport United highlighted Orlando Pirates’ inconsistent season after beating 1-0. Workaholic midfielder Edwin Gyimah played the full 90 minutes for United but Fatau Dauda was left on the Pirates bench. SPAIN Richmond Boakye-Yiadom came off the bench to score the only goal of the game for Elche CF and push them further away from the relegation zone as they beat Getafe 1-0.

Fatau Mohammed played 46 minutes for Granada FC in their 4-1 defeat against Malaga. Richard Boateng did not make the trip with Granada.

In the Segunda Division, Thomas Partey played 85 minutes for Real Mallorca who were beaten 2-1 at Lugo.

In the Segunda B, Richard Boateng was in action for Granada II when San Fernando beat them 1-0. Clifford Aboagye sat on the bench. Paul Quaye played for Espanyol II in their 2-2 draw with L’Hospitalet.

CZECH REPUBLIC

In the Czech Liga, Kevin Luckassen and Isaac Sackey helped Slovan Liberec to sneak past Banik Ostrava 3-2. Former Ghana U20 striker Francis Narh sat on the Ostrava bench but midfielder Derrick Mensah was not in the team.

PORTUGAL

David Addy returned to the Vitória Guimarães but sat on their bench when Estoril beat them 3-1 at their own backyard.

Haminu Dramani was not part of the Gil Vicente team that lost 1-0 to Belenenses. In the second-tier league, Alhassan Wakaso played full time for Portimonense when they held Sporting Covilhã to a 1-1 draw and push further towards promotion.

UAE

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan was in action for Al Ain but could not find the back of the net in their 2-1 victory over Bani Yas.

GREECE

Platanias posted a 1-0 win over Panetolikos in the Super League. Samuel Inkoom played the entire 90 minutes but Abdul Aziz Tetteh suffered an injury and was replaced in the 11th minute.

Ghanaian youngster Eric Warden was introduced in the 73rd minute by Levidiakos who suffered a 3-1 defeat against giants Panathinaikos.
