Former Kotoko defender, Abeiku Ainooson has told a rag to riches story of how football lifted him from abject story.

According to the Takoradi-born footballer, the struggles of life led him to sell ‘iced water’ at the City’s Central Market just to keep his head above waters.

Finding a decent place of accommodation was too big a problem for Ainooson who had to spend years sleeping in a kiosk which belonged to his then girlfriend.

The difficulties in making ends meet and lack of breakthrough in football made him contemplate quitting the sport but fortune smiled on him when late coach EK Afranie selected him for a Black Satellites call up.

It was then things began to improve for Abeiku Ainooson.

He joined Inter Allies after the tournament before moving to Edubease where his talent gained nationwide recognition.

He narrated an ordeal with a police officer which led to them losing their daily sales to the officer in Kumasi.

After four years with Edubease, he alongside Christopher Bonney, Yahaya Mohammed and Seidu Bance joined Kotoko where he became an established name.

He currently plays for Sekondi Hasaacas.
