How Samuel Inkoom allegedly defrauded Dubai-based Ghanaian man and his fiancée of $8000

Former Black Stars player Samuel Inkoom has been accused of defrauding a Dubai-based Ghanaian man and his fiancée of $8,000 under false pretences.

According to an account given to the Ghanaian Times, Inkoom allegedly swindled Seth Osei Adjei and his fiancée Doris Dwakwah after posing as someone who could assist them in relocating to the United States of America.

The report indicated that Inkoom, who appeared in Kwabenya Circuit Court in July 2024, pleaded to refund the money by selling a property he owns.

The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak player is said to have asked for time until October 31, 2024, to settle the debt.

In details shared by Chief Inspector Gerson Tobe Achondo in court, Inkoom claimed he had a company that could secure US visas for the man and his partner.

Achondo said Inkoom told the partners that the visas would cost them $4,000 each, which they paid through Doris Dwakwah's father, John Dadzie.

According to Achondo, the former footballer failed to procure the visas and refused to answer several phone calls from the complainants after taking the money.

He also refused to honour the police invitation after the case was reported to them.

Achondo shared that Inkoom was invited through a board member of his former club Hearts of Oak and former Black Stars teammates, but he refused to avail himself. However, the police eventually managed to get him to appear in court.

Meanwhile, Samuel Inkoom back in January 2024 denied being on the wanted list by police for being involved in a visa scandal.

Inkoom in a video sighted by GhanaWeb addressed the viral issue, clarifying that he has not been involved in the alleged fraud and that he was not on the Police wanted list.

"There's an artwork going around on social media with somebody claiming something against me. I've already managed to contact the headquarters of the Police in Cantonment. They told me this is not from them and this is not official and they cannot do such a thing."

Samuel Inkoom, 35, is yet to announce his retirement from football despite being inactive for over a year.

The former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner has shifted his focus to his football agency, S-Inkoom Football Management Agency.
