I’m not finished yet - Bukom Banku

Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has refuted claims about him retiring anytime soon.

The cruiserweight boxer, who has been inactive in the ring after his last defeat to Basie Samir on October 21 last year, says he's not done with boxing yet but was looking forward to fighting a few more bouts before finally saying goodbye to boxing.

Speaking to Graphic Sports Online, the WBO Africa light heavyweight champion said; “I am not finished in boxing. I've just been behind closed doors training and improving on myself. With my weight or division, you can still fight when you are even 42 years so I'm not thinking of retiring soon."

The 39-year-old disclosed that he will be back in the ring on December 26 in a rematch against Ghanaian boxer Bastie Samir.

"On 26th December I will come up against Basti Samir. He won the previous bout and I want to fight him again so Ghanaians should watch out for that. I made a few mistakes in the first bout and I've learned from them so I'm preparing really well for this bout. We hope a boxing promoter will come on board to promote this bout".

He further went on to praise his opponent who knocked him out in the seventh round back in 2017 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

"Bastie is a very good boxer. That‘s why he was able to defeat me. I always pray for him to become a world champion one day," he added.

Bukom Banku, who until October 20, 2017 boasted of an undefeated record of 28-0, suffered a TKO defeat to Bastie Samir at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

He’s also set to appear as the ring announcer for the exhibition bout between comedian Baba Spirit and fellow boxer Ayittey Powers on October 20.
