Former President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, 22 August 2018, led some former appointees of his government to sign the book of condolence in honour of the late former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.

Mr Mahama was accompanied by his former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, former Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, and a host of others.

Mr Mahama in an earlier tribute, said Kofi Annan lived and worked for global peace, security and sustainable development in very challenging times and described him as “a proud son of Ghana and Africa.”

Mr Annan died in Berne, Switzerland at the hospital on Saturday, 18 August.

His family said he died peacefully.

He was 80.

There has been a swathe of eulogy and outpouring of grief from world leaders and celebrities since Mr Annan’s passing.
