Former Hearts of Oak ace Mohammed Polo has urged Asante Kotoko to intensify their preparations ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup as they likely to meet Kariobangi Sharks in the second round of the of the competition.
The Kenyan outfit battered ARTA Solar of Djibouti 6-1 in the first leg of the preliminary round on Tuesday.
With the attacking prowess exhibited by the Sharks has prompted Polo to advise the Porcupine Warriors to work adequately on their defence before the two sides meet in the next stage as widely expected.
"It is good for Kotoko to know the kind of opponents they will face in the next round. Although, the number of goals scored in first leg by Sharks show how prolific their attack is, one can also argue that the opposition they faced also counts," Polo told Goal .
"Since Sharks are likely to qualify, Kotoko defenders must be careful and show they are good by keeping them away from repeating such a scoreline in Kenya. Kotoko have to justify why they were the only Ghanaian club which had the opportunity to participate in the Caf inter-club competition," he added.
The first leg of the first round has been scheduled between December 14 and 16 at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
