Patrick Twumasi completes deal with Alaves
Ghana international, Patrick Twumasi, has completed a dream move from Astana to Spanish side, Deportivo Alavés, after passing a medical.
The 24-year-old successfully completed his medical on Thursday and signed a four-year deal with the Spanish La Liga side. Dressed in Alaves jersey, he later posted a video on his Twitter page expressing his excitement about his new club.
He will be in good company at his new club as he teams up with compatriot Mubarak Wakaso who joined Alavés last season.
The former Red Bull Academy was a hit for the Kazakhstan Premier League side for the five years he spent with the club, scoring 43 goals in 160 games over the last four seasons.
Before departing for Spain, Twumasi sent an emotional farewell message to his teammates and officials of Astana, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for their support and the amazing time he spent with them.
“It has been an amazing 5 years @Astana and I tell you I enjoyed every bit of the seasons. I would like to say a very big thank you to the President of Astana club. Mr. Sayan Hamitzanov, my coaches and my team mates.
“To my team mates, it was a pleasure playing alongside with you guys. You are all amazing. To all my fans I want to say I really appreciate you. Thank you all for your supports. Excited for a new challenge. To everyone in the club, thank you for been a part of my family. I wish you all success. Thank you all. God is God,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
Twumasi has made just two appearances for Ghana, making his debut in 2016 under former Black Stars coach Avram Grant during a 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.
