Petroleum firms donate 56,000 litres of fuel towards anti-COVID-19 efforts

The Rwanda Association of Petroleum Product Importers (ASSIMPER) has offered 56,000 litres of fuel worth slightly over Rwf60 million in monetary value to support the Government of Rwanda's efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

ASSIMPER is grouping of companies that import and distribute petroleum products in the country.

That fuel will be used by the fleet of vehicles operated under the Ministry of Health during this crisis.

"We stand in solidarity with the Government and the people of Rwanda as we fight the coronavirus together," a statement signed by Eric Herbez Mutaganda, the Chairman of ASSIMPER reads in part.

The fuel will be consumed by using vouchers and fuel cards from the oil marketing companies listed in the statement.

The support consists of 5,000 litres from Merez Petroleum, Engen 5,000 litres, Distribution Centre (Discentre) 5,000 litres and 5,000 litres from Mount Meru Petroleum.

Others are Source Oil, which contributed 5,000 litres, Energy Solutions Ltd (ENES) 5,000 litres, Gas Oil4,000 litres, SP 10,000 litres, Hashi Energy 5,000 litres, Black Star 3,000 litres, Mogas 3,000 litres and Kobil 1,000 litres.

Rwanda has so far recorded 54 cases coronavirus, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.
