The Acting Controller and Accountant-General, Kwasi Kwanning-Bosompem, has assured government employees and pensioners that adequate measures have been put in place to pay April entitlements as scheduled.

He indicated that the April payments will see revisions for some as a result of the pledges made by the President and Vice President as well as some government appointees over the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had pledged three months of his salaries as seed money for the Fund.

His vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, also pledged same.

The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, and all ministers of state as well as other government appointees pledged 50 per cent of their salaries from April to June.

“The Controller and Accountant-General wishes to inform the general public that these directives have been implemented and the results will reflect after April 2020 payroll run,” Mr Kwanning Bosompem said in a statement on Thursday, April 9.

On Sunday, President Akufo-Addo had boosted frontline health workers in the country’s fight against coronavirus by announcing the shedding of tax on all their emoluments.

Fifty per cent of their basic salaries – from March to June – will also go to them as allowances.

Dr Kwannin-Bosompem assured that all these will take effect after April payroll is run.
