South Africa became the fourth and final country to express its satisfaction about facilities at the northern city of Tamale in Ghana where they will be based for their Group D African Nations Cup tournament that gets underway in the West African country on January 20.

Tunisia, South Africa, Angola and Senegal have all been put together in Tamale but while Angola, Senegal and Tunisia expressed their satisfaction about the city, South Africa hinted that they would be seeking an alternative base and might even travel to Tamale on match days.

Last week, South Africa sent a reconnaissance team that also included assistant coach Pitso Mosimane to Ghana’s northern city to inspect facilities and although no official statement has come out of the Soccer City headquarters of South African football, word has it that the South Africans have also reached agreement to stay in Tamale.

South Africa opens their campaign against Angola in a double-header that also involves Senegal against Tunisia in Tamale on January 23. The matches will be followed by another double-header on January 27 when South Africa tackles Tunisia and Senegal are up against Angola.

Then for the final group showdown, Tunisia will take on Angola on familiar territory in Tamale, while South Africa will face Senegal simultaneously in Kumasi on January 31 to determine which two top countries proceeds to the knockout stages of the competition from the group.
