The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Felix Nii Anang-La has stormed the Port Tema, to announce that users of the Port of Tema who refuse to wear the mandatory protective nose masks upon their visit and stay in the port, would not be entertained.

“The message we have for you is simple. No mask no entry,” he warned.

The Mayor of Tema said this is in efforts to ensure that the escalated numbers of COVID-19 cases in Tema over the past week doesn’t exacerbate.

And with the Port being a major meeting point of business for many people in the Tema Metropolis, it is a critical place to strictly enforce the mandatory wearing of nose masks directive towards the prevention of the spread of the virus.

“When they say they are closing the port because some people are failing to adhere to the directive by His Excellency the President… we will not even allow that time to come. So if you try to mess us up we get you out,” he cautioned.

Felix Nii Anang-La visited the Tema Customs Long room which houses some customs offices as well as the Ghana Commercial Bank and Ecobank offices near the long room first, to conscientize the many freight forwarders who gather in that area to do business.

He then called at the Golden Jubilee Terminal of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and then later to the MPS’ Terminal 3, being considered as the areas with the most human traffic.

The Tema Sector Commander of Customs, Joseph Adu Kyei during the assembly, encouraged the port users, especially the members of the freight forwarding fraternity, to comply with the Government’s directive for the collective safety of the Port Community.

“We have to go and work but we also have to protect ourselves so if you want to go out please wear the nose mask. Today is the beginning of that enforcement,” he said.
