Senegal's Sadio Mane to build hospital in his village

Senegalese skipper, Sadio Mane, has announced that he is going to build a hospital in his home village of Bamballi.

The Liverpool striker made the disclosure when he met with President Macky Sall in Dakar on Thursday.

The presidency shared photos of the meeting between the two further disclosing that Mane had asked the Head of State for staff support after the project is done.

"The footballer Sadio Mané was received this afternoon by the President Macky Sall. The Liverpool striker presented the Head of State with an ambitious project to build a hospital in Bambali and counts on the support of the State for medical personnel," the post read.

Other issues discussed included Senegal's new stadium and the preparation of the national team for their last two friendly matches.

The village of Bamballi was in the news when residents gathered last two years to support Mane during the Champions League final between Mane's Liverpool and Tottenham in the 2018 / 2019 season.

Mane also had special mention to Bamballi when he received the African best player award in 2020. No timelines have yet been announced for commencement of the edifice.

He joins other African players who are into the humanitarian space back home, a list that includes Egypt's Mohamed Salah, Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba of Cameroon and Ivory Coast respectively.
