Ghanafest08; Ghanaians musicians to rock “Obama City!”

Ghana’s USA Ambassador, Dr Edusei, Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, Ike Quartey, Van Vicker, MzBel , K. K. Fosu, Tic Tac, VIP, Tinny and Castro will be in “Obama City.”



The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, GNC, has informed Ghana Home Page, Ghanaweb, that the most stupendous African cultural festival in the Diaspora, Chicago O8 Ghanafest, is slated on July 26 2008 at the historic Washington Park from 11 A.M to 10 P.M. This year’s festival has been shifted a little South of Washington Park, to 5600 South Russell, near the swimming pool, close to Dr. Martin Luther. King Dr. The original Ghanafest, Chicago, is upon us once again and many other years before,the organizers have lined up the program with eye pleasing, entertaining, exciting and fabulous cultural shows better seen than described.



Other showcases are the Ghanaian traditional post harvest scene, Ghanaian Chiefs, Queen-mothers, princes and princesses of the chiefs court adorned in the most elegant Ghanaian traditional fabrics, gold ornaments and other paraphernalia. Ghanaian children will entertain the gathering with live Adowa, Borbobor and stilt dancing; and a procession by the youth!



A taste of Ghana combined with traditional drumming, a gathering of all the Ghanaian musical talents in the Chicago area! If you have never visited Ghana or Africa or been to Ghanafest before; think of what you are missing! Ever witnessed the Ghanaian Traditional Thanksgiving Celebrations? Again, think of what you are missing! It is big, and they keep on making it bigger each year! The Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago have also informed Ghana Home Page that His Excellency, Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America, will be the honorary guest for this year’s celebrations. Others expected to attend the festival includes Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the Convention Peoples Party Flagbearer, the Governor of Illinois’s Representative, a representative from the city of Chicago and the United African Organization.



The captain of Ghana’s Black Stars, Stephen Appiah, Boxing Great, Ike Quartey, African Movie Star, Van Vicker, NBA and NFL Stars scheduled for another event later in the night in Chicago are expected to grace the festival.

The annual celebrations of Ghanaian culture, started 20 years ago by the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago has grown into a cultural phenomenon that turns the Washington Park into an African ‘Village’, full of all the paraphernalia and the ingredients that make a traditional durbar like Ghanafest, a unique experience for families and individuals! The celebrations include ethnic foods, music, arts and craft, networking and a variety of entertaining activities for all. There will be cultural displays from all corners of the diverse cultures that constitute Ghana!



With famous female crooner, MzBel, Highlife artist K.K Fosu , Castro, VIP, Tic Tac, Tinny and others in “Obama City” for the much publicized after Ghanafest Party at the historic Congress Theater in Down Town Chicago, the GNC officials are working hard to spice Ghanafest 2008 with the best talent of music available to rock the Washington Park on Saturday, July 26 2008!.
