Hiplife grandpapa Reggie Rockstone has said he is now a waakye seller.

The rap legend says he doesn’t have to respond to the basely statement made by Shatta Wale that he and other hiplife artistes are poor.

According to the Hiplife grandpa, he is rather taking advantage of the hype that these negative statements bring and he is cashing in.

The “Plan Ben” Rapper says his main trade now; aside music is running a pub and selling waakye.

Unlike jollof which has become a bone of contention between Ghana and Nigeria as to whose jollof is the best; waakye is a local delicacy peculiar to Ghanaians only.

According to the rap legend, he and his wife have been running this waakye business and the pub for years and have had great personalities like rapper Sarkodie, American movie superstar Iddris Elba and many others patronizing his trade.

He is happy with his business and believed selling waakye is his calling.

''Waakye is my brand. The waakye has been my food since my upbringing...My mother even made a video explaining how waakye was introduced into my life. So, waakye has been in my life from infancy...We're trying to make it international'', he said on Nkonkonsa YouTube.

He added that even though he has been selling Waakye for about a decade now, the business is growing faster especially during this Coronavirus period, because his name is always in the news and it attracting a lot more people to purchase his waakye.

He revealed that he making sales now more than ever.

“This has been the biggest so far. In fact we have broken records. We have never sold this much ever before. We are moving as much as 300 packs of waakye day”.

He also noted that he has specialized in the waakye business rather than the pub because ''selling alcohol clashes with my spirituality. It disturbs me sometimes. It's been on my conscience''.
