Asawase Member of Parliament Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has denied sharing money to influence his constituents to vote for him ahead of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Majority Chief Whip said the allegation of vote buying was “untrue”.

The Asawase legislator, in a post on Facebook, swore he had not given a dime to anybody to vote for him in the December polls.

He accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant in the constituency, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, of peddling falsehood and dared him to also swear by Allah that he had seen him sharing money to his constituents.

Below is his full Facebook post:

Asalamualaikum, my dear fellow constituents. I've heard and read with shock the lies being peddled by my political opponent with respect to the fact that my outfit is giving out money to the good people of Asawase for their votes. This reckless and untrue statement is an attack on the integrity of the people of Asawase constituency, who for the past years have been voting based on principles and conviction. It is also uncharacteristic of a true Muslim to lie for political gain.

My dear constituents, I am by this notice swearing to my Creator, who I believe controls the affairs of everyone that I, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, have not given out a dime to anybody to vote for me come December 7. I also challenge the NPP candidate in Asawase who peddled this falsehood to also swear to Allah his Creator that he has seen us sharing money.

Thank you.
