Ghanaian contemporary Gospel singer, Songwriter and a Pastor, Nana Yaw Boakye, known by his stage name, MOG, has revealed that he broke down in tears when he was nominated for the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra, the talented musician admitted that, “I cried when I received my nomination. Others have also worked hard. It is a humble opportunity when the spotlight falls on you. Honestly I wasn’t expecting the nomination”.
He furthered that it was clear for great minds in music to nominate and appreciate you for an award which he was very appreciative of.
According to MOG, “As much as one can have self confidence in his or her work, I didn’t have that much hope”.
He revealed that he submitted some of his work years back but was not considered. “I decided not to submit again when we didn’t hear anything the last time but the team insisted we summit this time around too and that’s how far we’ve reached”, he said.
Things took a right turn for MOG and his team as they were nominated in categories they submitted their work for and some they did not even file for.
