At least 1,500 students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) expected to return to school would be entitled to a room each as they prepare to write their final exam.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mr. Daniel Norish Bekoe has confirmed.

The university this week started receiving final year students who are yet to write their exit exam.

The move according to the university is to ensure compliance to the protocols set out by the Ghana Health Service and government to curb the spread of COVID 19 in the country.

The return of students to school comes after the president in his 10th address to the nation said final year students of the various universities were allowed to resume school to prepare and write their final year student.

The President in his 11th address on measures taken to curb the spread against COVID-19 asked school authorities to put in place proper measures in place to ensure the safety of students who may come back to write their exam for exit.

Prior to the President’s directive, authorities at KNUST had revealed they have put in place safety measures including “one-room one student” to ensure they protect both students and workers on campus.

“For the sake of social distancing, each student would be entitled to one room”. Mr. Daniel Norish Bekoe said.

“All workers at the university would be provided with face masks while hand sanitizers and washing items would be made available on the university campus”, he adds.

Mr. Daniel Norish Bekoe also revealed that all lecture halls would also have veronica buckets for hands washing and properly spaced up seating arrangement.

“We have made arrangements for between 1000 to 1500 students as they will all get a room to rest”, the university has said.
