The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has appealed to the government to reduce the high energy costs for industries in the upcoming mid-year budget review.

According to AGI, this initiative will aid in safeguarding local manufacturing companies that are grappling with high production costs and struggling to remain viable.

The Chairman of AGI in the Bono, Ashanti, Ahafo, and Bono East Regions, Mr. Kwasi Nyamekye, made this plea during an interview with Osei Akoto Kanu on OTEC FM's afternoon political show, Dwabrem, on Monday.

Mr. Nyamekye's appeal comes ahead of the 2024 mid-year budget review by the Finance Minister, Hon. Mohamed Amin Adams, scheduled for July 23, 2024.

He emphasized that AGI expects the government to reduce taxes and import duties for local manufacturers to help them remain in business.
