The management of the Accra West Region of Power Distribution Services (PDS) on Thursday engaged high-value customers in its operational area to discuss challenges and to solicit suggestions for better service delivery.Some of the issues that were discussed by the key customers known as Strategic Important Customers (SICs), included wrongful disconnections, high voltages, billing systems, among others as they deliberated on ways to solve these impasses.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Mr Emmanuel Ankomah, Acting General Manager of Accra West Region PDS, gave an assurance to customers that the company was committed to rendering a better service and had taken steps to address the issues.
As part of a grand plan, he said, the company had strengthened the governance, management and operations of the company to enable it to deliver on its promise.
“PDS has been at the helm of affairs for barely five months, and we have received complaints from our cherished customers. They want us to improve on our services and I can assure that we are committed to providing just that,” he said.
Mr Ankomah stated that the company would soon employ relation managers to facilitate, maintain and enhance the relationship between the company and SICs.
He said one of the challenges the company was facing was power theft and urged the public to remain vigilant and report such cases.
“We entreat all citizens to be vigilant and where you suspect anyone of engaging in illegalities, report them to any of our offices. We promise to protect your identity and handsomely reward you,” he said.
On March 1, the assets and operations of the old Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd were transferred to the PDS under the Compact two where the Government of Ghana opted for private sector participation for a 20-year concession agreement.
The concession seeks to strengthen the governance, management and operations of the Company, and attract investments designed to reduce technical, commercial and collection losses.
