Antigraft crusader and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Esikuma-Odobin-Brakwa, Mr. P C Appiah Ofori has revealed that he is yet to be given an appointment in the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government more than a year it took over power.

According to the outspoken former lawmaker on Tamale-based Diamond FM, the President is yet to fix him in a board of any state institution recounting how he was denied an opportunity to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, a position he yearned very much to occupy.

“Not even a board has he put me. Akufo-Addo has not sent me to anybody board …I am still there like that. I remember when Cocoa Marketing Board scandal took place, I asked him to send me there as the CEO so that I could curb corruption but he refused”, he lamented.

According to him, prior to entering parliament, he worked in Nigeria where he made some savings through fixed deposits and treasury bills explaining that it is what he now relies on to take care of himself and immediate family.

“As for me, I prepared before I came home. Before I became an MP I was in Nigeria working there and therefore I made a lot of savings through fixed deposits and treasury bills. Since I retired five years ago I have not worked anyway and earned any income but I pay my water bills and light bills. I rather help people who are in need”, he disclosed.

He is however hopeful that the President who has indicated his commitment to fighting corruption will hand him an appointment soon.
