The New Patriotic Party (NPP) business mogul and founding member of the party, Mr. George Ayisi Boateng has announced plans to lead a demonstration against the increment in lorry fares.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) business mogul and founding member of the party, Mr. George Ayisi Boateng has announced plans to lead a demonstration against government of the 15% increment of transportation fares.

The NPP stalwart has fiercely rejected the increment of transport fares from the transport unions describing it “abnormal and no justification”

Mr. Ayisi Boateng who owns a lot of petrol filling stations explained that acceptance by the Transport Ministry and allowing the implementation of the increment has brought further hardship to the citizenry.

According to him, the increment which took effect last Thursday now has brought more hardship to passengers revealing on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM “Am set to lead a demonstration against my own government next week for reduction in transport fares”.

"The price of petroleum is going down but we are seeing increment of fares. What is happening? Is this a sabotage or what?" he questioned.

He stated that the situation is an indictment on government and NPP will suffer for it in any upcoming polls if nothing is done about it.

He admonished that the Transport Ministry to meet the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) of Trade Union Congress (TUC) again for review on the fares.
