IMANI, in a latest assessment of the promises made by President Nana Akufo-Addo in the run-up to the 2016 elections concluded that only 48.78 percent of the promises have been fulfilled.

The report further indicated out of the 510 promises made by government, only 27 per cent of them have been fully fulfilled, with 21.75 percent partially fulfilled.

However, President Akufo-Addo at a media encounter disagreed with IMANI’s conclusion, indicating that he has fulfilled 72 percent of the promises made.

The Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), an independent, non-governmental and non-profit research and advocacy institute has reacted to President Akufo-Addo's grading and has further given a general overview of the media encounter.

Senior Programs Officer of the CDD, Mensah Aborampah noted that politicians normally do not pay particular attention to polls when they come up.

"Polls ahead of elections makes the politicians know what perceptions the voters have so that they can analyse and improve upon it. Also, it allows the opposition to capitalize on the weakness of the President and include that in their manifesto to the voters," he explained.
