Health Minister, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu has lashed out at citizens who do not want to adopt what he described as ‘simple’ safety protocol measures during this COVID-19 period.
He said anybody who wants to die from the disease should endeavor to die alone and not drag anyone along.
Mr. Agyemang who appeared rather emotional in his speech during the Information Ministry’s press briefing held May 5, 2020, asked every Ghanaian to stringently protect themselves.
“If any anyone of us wants to contract the disease and wants to die voluntarily, the rest of us don’t want us to die. Don’t bring your death to join us. Don’t think that you are protecting just yourselves by adhering to protocols. You are helping all of us, so it is not your choice,” he stated.
The minister believes, every safety adherence tip constantly echoed in the ears of individuals have long before now, been taught in basic schools.
“It is very important to adhere to the advice we have given you. These are all personal hygiene things we learnt in school. Over the weekend I drove around and people are not wearing the masks. If you don’t do this, you don’t cut the spread.”
Ghana saw a significant increase in the number of cases on Monday as 550 new infections were announced by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). The tally, thus, leaped from 2,169 to 2,719. Out of the total number of cases, 294 have recovered while 18 have died.
