Election 2020: Help consolidate Ghana’s peace – Mahama to Chiefs

The former President John Dramani Mahama has urged traditional rulers to continue their crucial role in consolidating peace in the Country particularly before, during and after the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He said peace and security are essential for development therefore the need to sustain peace in the Country.

Mahama said this Sunday in a message delivered on his behalf by Former Communication Minister, Dr Omane Boamah during a Thanksgiving durbar marking 40th anniversary of enstoolment of Nana Kodua Kese II, as Chief of Oyoko in New Juaben Traditional Area which also marked his 77th Birthday.

The opposition National Democratic Congress flagbearer thanked the Chief who is a former member of the Council of State for his wise counsels when he was serving under his first tenure as President.

Mahama assured the Chiefs and People of Oyoko of his next government to invest more in infrastructure to improve their living conditions.

“I am glad that under my tenure, Oyoko Methodist SHS witnessed an expansion in infrastructure. I wish to assure the Chiefs and People of Oyoko that more will be done for this community in the next few years to come”.

The Oyokohene who doubles as Adontenhene of New Juaben Traditional Area -Nana Kodua Kese II, called on the Clergy to rise up and pray for the peace of the country due to repetitive dreams suggesting attempts by some nation wreckers to destabilize the country.

“I will call on the Clergy to pray for this country. They should not only be concerned with the collections they get but also the welfare of the country. I have been getting dreams of someone trying to set fire into this country but in the dream, I also saw a giant man yelling at the person ordering him to stop because Ghana does not belong to him”

Oyokohene lauded the enviable political harmony in the Oyoko Community, and, appreciated efforts of some distinguished individuals for their contributions to the development of his traditional area with special mention of the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Nana Adjei Boateng for his cordial relationship and contribution to the development since his days as Municipal Chief Executive for the area.
