Energy Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has charged the newly constituted governing Board of the Volta River Authority (VRA) to ensure that the lights are stable to support Ghana’s economy.

In the past and quite recently, Ghanaians have been enduring blackouts caused by power supply shortage and expansion works.

This led to constant backlash from the citizenry.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new governing board of the VRA on 31 August 2021, Dr Prempeh stressed the importance of constant electricity for the daily lives of the citizenry and, therefore, charged the board to ensure the lights are on.

He also addressed the key area of intra-sector debts and made known his determination to ensure that it is eliminated in order to enhance the liquidity of entities within the sector.

He pledged his utmost support to tackle managerial, financial and technical challenges within the VRA.
