GCB gives to Ministry of Manpower Development, Youth and Employment

Accra, Jan. 17, GNA - The Ghana Commercial Bank Limited on Wednesday presented equipment worth 144.8 million cedis to the Ministry of Manpower Development, Youth and Employment at ceremony in Accra. The equipment comprises six split air conditioners; six personal computers and six printers. The Bank also presented a stand by generator to the Ministry.

The items were offered to the Ministry for housing the Ministries Branch of the Bank since 1986 until February 2006 when it relocated at Pension House.

Presenting the items, which were received by Alhaji Abubakar Siddique Boniface, Sector Minister, Mr Lawrence N. Adu-Mante, Managing Director of GCB, recalled the long-standing relationship between the Ghanaian worker and the Bank since its inception years ago.

He said when the Bank vacated the premises it decided to renovate and refurbish it at a cost of 286.7 million cedis. "When we vacated your premises, we decided that we would leave it in a more modern and habitable state, hence we renovated it at a cost of 144.8 million cedis," he said.

Mr Mantey said: "These items are to facilitate the technical competence of the offices of the Ministry and to enhance the output of the staff." The Managing Director declared the Bank's continued support to the Ministry adding: "We hope this gesture will help your Ministry in the discharge of its challenging duties." Alhaji Boniface said the gesture showed the manifestation of good relationship between a landlord and a tenant. Expressing his delight for the items, the Minister lauded the Bank for its dedicated service to the citizenry over the years. He urged other banking institutions and other benevolent organizations to emulate the Bank. 17 Jan. 07
