The Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund has sponsored a three-day training programme for 55 health professionals in the treatment and prevention of Covid-19.

The trainees included doctors, nurses and biomedical scientist.

They will be the first batch of health professionals posted to The Bank Hospital in Accra to treat Covid-19 patients.

The trainees were taken through topics including the best ways to protect themselves from getting infected by the coronavirus in the line of work. They also learned about the best treatment regimen for Covid-19 patients.

“Covid-19 is a new disease and many of us have never dealt with anything like it before,” says the technical advisor to the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund, Dr. Justice Yankson.

“So every doctor or nurse who is going to be at the frontline in the battle against this disease needs to be equipped with new skills to be able to not only save lives but to also protect themselves from getting infected. That’s why the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund is sponsoring this training programme. Like everything the fund has done since its inception, this training programme is to complement government’s efforts at blocking the spread of the virus.”

The Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund is an initiative by private business people who set it up with a seed fund of One Million Ghana Cedis, while campaigning to raise at least One Hundred Million Ghana Cedis from local and international businesses as well as the general public to aid the fight against Covid-19 in Ghana.
