Golden Tulip To Upgrade Facilities

The Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra is to undertake a major refurbishment of the hotel this year as part of its upgrading programme.

This was announced at the weekend by Mr Thom Sheriff, General Manager of the hotel, at a reception for their Most Valued Customers for the year. He described the past year as very encouraging in spite of the increasing competition in the industry in the country.

Mr Sheriff further disclosed that in line with the aspirations of the Ministry of Tourism to improve service in hotels to international standards, Golden Tulip had embarked on a hospitality-training programme with Accra Polytechnic.


Under the programme, he explained, twice in a year tutors of the school would be attached to the hotel for four weeks, while professional staff of the hotel would lecture at the school.

The general manager expressed the hope that the United States of America?s lifting of the sanctions on Libya which has shares in the hotel, will have positive influence on operatons of the hotel.

Present at the reception included Mr Paade Kooper, Managing Director of Golden Tulip International, members of the Diplomatic Corps and a cross section of Foreign and Ghanaian Business Executives.
