It has been revealed that prior to the 2016 elections; the then flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo signed a pact with regional chairmen of his party and vested in them the authority to determine who their preferred regional minister becomes.

According to close sources within the party, the first option went to the regional chairmen themselves and in cases where they are not qualified or not interested, they will be required to present their preferred choice.

It is therefore not surprising that some regional executives including Asumah Kyeremeh Regional Chairman for Brong Ahafo, Dr. Archibald Letsa Volta Regional Vice Chairman, Ishmael Ashitey and Greater Accra Regional Chairman were named on Tuesday.

Ultimatefmonline.com, can authoritatively report that Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu presented Salifu Saeed for consideration in view of the fact that he deemed himself unqualified for the position while Chairman Wontumi presented Simon Osei-Mensah.

Our source said “we agreed on those arrangements because we feel the regional ministers owe it a duty to work in concert with the leadership of the party in the regions in order not to replicate the mistakes of the previous administration”

It would be recalled that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday named the following as regional minister nominees:

Sulemana Alhassan, Upper West Region

Kwamena Duncan, Central Region

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Western Region, MP

Dr. Kwakye Darfour, Eastern Region

Rockson Bukari, Upper East Region

Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Region

Ishmael Ashitey, Greater Accra Region

Salifu Saeed, Northern Region

Kweku Asomah-Cheremeh, Brong Ahafo Region

Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Region
