The Agbogbloshie market was full of people Thursday morning without any form of social-distancing observed.

Traders and buyers were seen busily trading when Rainbow Radio’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi visited.

He said at his visit, people were seen trading as if there was nothing at stake.

The partial lockdown he indicated was not being observed by the people who were at the market.

Reporting from Achimota, Daniel Asuku said the lockdown was being observed as the once busy street in the area has turned into a ghost turn.

Means of transportation he stated has become a challenge as commuters are forced to order taxi to journey or had to wait for long hours before they get access to a trotro.

The joint security team enforcing the lockdown he added were on the beat.

Persons who are not essential workers he said are turned away.

On Saturday, March 28, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced a lockdown on in Accra, Kumasi, Kasoa and Tema.

Individuals were advised to stay at home as much as possible for the next two weeks and will only be permitted to leave their homes for essential items such as food, medicine, and water, or to visit the bank and public toilets.

Additionally, inter-city travel for private and commercial purposes, except for essential goods and services, has been suspended.

All intra-city travel vehicles must also reduce their number of passengers to observe social distancing.
