Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized the urgent need to introduce agro-processing zones in farming communities across northern Ghana to add value to the crops produced by farmers.
Speaking during a media encounter as he concluded his campaign tour of the Upper East Region, Mr Mahama highlighted the region's strong agricultural base and stressed the importance of setting up Farmers’ Service Centers in various districts.
These centres, he explained, would provide critical support to farmers both during and after the farming season, enhancing their productivity and profitability.
Mahama's proposal aims to boost the agricultural sector in the Upper East Region by ensuring that farmers receive the necessary assistance to improve their farming practices and efficiently process their crops.
As he wrapped up his tour, Mahama reiterated his commitment to advancing the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
