Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has vowed that the next NDC government will restore the glory days of the fishing industry.
Mahama made this statement during a meeting with stakeholders at the Tema Fishing Harbour over the weekend.
The stakeholders raised concerns about the challenges confronting the fishing industry during his visit, which was part of his "Building the Ghana We Want" campaign tour.
Mahama assured that his administration, if elected as President, will do everything possible to alleviate the pain and burden on fisherfolk.
He emphasized that the next NDC government will take concrete steps to support and revitalize fishery in the country.
The NDC flagbearer also reiterated his commitment to equipping the Navy to patrol various water bodies, aiming to reduce accidents in the sector and ensure the safety and security of those working in the industry.
