Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Member of Parliament for Suame and Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has performed much better in its two (2) years of administration than the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC's) 8 years.

According to him, with the "planned policies and pragmatic government interventions rolled-out, Ghanaians are now well off under the Akufo Addo led government."

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Programme, the Majority Leader explained that within just two years, the NPP can boast of so many projects which hitherto had even not existed.

"We've a 4-year mandate to deliver on our campaign promises but I can confidently tell you that much has been achieved even with 2 years compared to the NDC's 8 years . . . The NDC should not think that we've been idle, by the time we are done with our first term, the country will see massive infrastructural development.

Is the NDC trying to tell us that they have not seen what government is doing and the positive projections we have made so far as a government?" he rhetorically asked.

'Ghanaians Better Off Under NPP'

Recently, the government has been under severe criticism for their lack of action on the downward spiral of the cedi against the U.S. dollar and other major currencies, as well as the incessant rising of fuel prices.

Former President Mahama, on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on the current administration saying, “the NDC must be proud of what we did in Government for 8 years. The Nana Addo Government has been a failure. When a government is led by a failure the result is hardship.”

But the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, rebutted asking Ghanaians to reject the hardship propaganda being circulated by the NDC.

To him, Ghanaians are better off under an NPP government than that of the NDC.

'The NPP, under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, promised among other things, to change the education system, to introduce free senior high school education, to change the management of the economy from the focus on taxation to the focus on production, to change from most districts with no factories to a philosophy of one district-one factory, to change from a situation where most villages in the north have no dams to a position of one village-one dam, to change from the predominance of sole-sourcing from public procurement to tendering in procurement, to change from the abolishing of teacher trainee allowances to the restoration of teacher trainee allowances", he said.

According to Dr Bawumia, under the NDC administration, there was high unemployment rate, a high fiscal deficit of 9.3 per cent of GDP in 2016 coupled with a high public debt which pushed the debt-to-GDP ratio to 73.1 per cent
