The Parliament of Ghana has officially confirmed Herbert Krapa's appointment as the Minister of State for the Energy Ministry.
This decision comes after an initial attempt by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to expedite Krapa's vetting and approval, which was delayed by the Minority.
Herbert Krapa, who previously served as the deputy Energy Minister, was nominated by President Akufo-Addo for the ministerial position following Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's selection as the running mate for NPP's flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Majority Leader had urged Parliament to speed up the approval process to prevent any potential leadership vacuum within the ministry. The Minority, led by Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, opposed this urgency, arguing that the incumbent Energy Minister was still in office.
Despite these objections, the Appointments Committee re-evaluated the situation and endorsed Herbert Krapa for the position. Despite the Minority's walkout in protest, Parliament went ahead to approve the committee's recommendation.
