The Deputy Director of Protocol for Ghana's ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Frimpong, has assured Ghanaians in the diaspora that port duties will decrease significantly under the government of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Speaking at the 10th-anniversary celebration of the NPP's Luton Chapter in the UK, Mr. Frimpong emphasized Dr. Bawumia's commitment to introducing a flat tax rate for all 40-foot containers entering Ghana's ports and lower or equivalent import duties compared to Togo's port, effective 2025.
This move aims to boost economic competitiveness, create jobs, and ease the tax burden on importers and diasporans using Ghana's ports.
Mr. Frimpong urged Ghanaians in the diaspora to champion the NPP manifesto and rally support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, citing his track record of delivering on his promises, including Drone essentials medical delivery services, the ECG app, the Ghana Card, the paperless port, the Constituency 1 ambulance project, the DRIP project, mobile money interoperability, electronic buses, and more.
The event, themed "Energizing Diaspora Community for Election 2024," featured cultural performances, awards, and fundraising to support Dr. Bawumia's presidential campaign.
Mr. Frimpong encouraged Ghanaians in the diaspora to reach out to their relatives in Ghana and vote for Dr. Bawumia in the 2024 elections, promising a prosperous future for all Ghanaians under Dr. Bawumia's presidency.
