Prisons get 8,000 loaves of A1 bread, First Lady’s foundation receives 3,000

Producers of A1 bread have extended their benevolence to some prison facilities in the country as they have donated eight thousand (8,000) loaves of bread to the institution.

Among the beneficiaries are Nsawam Prisons, James Camp Prisons, Gomoa Budumburam Prisons and the Senior Correction Centre in Accra formerly known as the Ghana Borstal Institute (GBI).

The gesture is part of the company’s efforts to extend a helping hand to the needy as the country battles Coronavirus.

“These are difficult times and it’s prudent to come to the aid of people in need. Those who don’t have the luxury for enough foods, we will continue to do this,” said Edward Nana Poku Osei (Hammer), Chief Marketing Officer of A1 Bakery.

The company which has employed about a 1000 direct and indirect young people since its inception in 2017, earlier heeded to the First Lady’s call on entities to support the vulnerable as it donated 3,000 loaves.

Meanwhile, the national coronavirus case tally stands at 313. The regional distribution of the cases, according to the Ghana Health Service are: Greater Accra Region (274), Ashanti Region (25), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1), Upper East Region (1) and Central Region (1).

A total of 161 cases were reported from the routine surveillance, 37 from enhanced surveillance activities and those from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale are 115.
