Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta says government need to be applauded for its effort to gather funds to pay contractors working on road projects.
According to him, the country’s revenue mobilization has been hapless; hence, took government long to clear its debts.
Early this month, President Nana Akufo-Addo directed the Ministry of Finance to pay contractors working on road projects.
Government since assuming office has paid over GHc4 billion to contractors – the Minister disclosed in an interview with Peace FM’s morning show ‘kokrokoo’ Thursday morning.
"At least government should be appreciated for clearing old debts. We as citizens must also pay our taxes. This will help build the nation we all want,” he said.
