The Shout Africa Foundation, an NGO as part of their campaign dubbed “Western Region Shout Covid 19 Out” has donated educational materials on the safety measures against COVID-19 to the Essikado Hospital, Albert Bosomtwe Sam Fishing Harbour and Ngyiresia, a fishing community to aid in curbing the spread of the pandemic in the region.

The Administrator of Essikado Hospital, Frank Owusu Asare who received the items applauded the team for their donation and appealed to other organisations to also donate more PPEs to aid the health workers at Essikado Hospital

Mr Frank Owusu Asare also stressed on the need for our market women to sanitise well before receiving or when handling money since that could be an easy mode of transmission.

“The most dangerous mode of transmission in our part of the world is money. And if more education is not done about it our market women will be at risk of contacting the coronavirus because of their day to day handling of money. Our market women must sanitise frequently to avoid the spread of the pandemic.”

The Team then moved to Ngyiresia where a sensitisation exercise was held in addition to the educative tools given to help the fisher-folks in the area understand the mode of transmission of Coronavirus and prevention.

Interacting with some fisherfolk at Ngyiresia, the team allied their fears and emphasised on the need for them to strictly adhere to all measures given by the Ministry of Health especially on social distancing and wearing of nose mask.

The Shout Africa Foundation team will continue their donations and education across the various markets in the Western Region
