Ghana has been led by five presidents since the beginning of the fourth republic which started from January 1, 1993. Flt Lt (Rtd) Jerry John Rawlings took charge as president from 1993 and handed over in January 2001.
John Agyekum Kufuor also served two terms and completed his mandate in January 2009. Professor John Evans Atta-Mills continued from there till he lost his life in July 2012.
His then vice president, John Dramani Mahama, assumed office as president till he lost the 2016 elections to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who is president currently.
