Many were the promises by the various political parties in the last weeks of campaign ahead of the December 7 polls. From the promise of one district, one factory, to that of one house, one meter, the various parties were sure to give Ghanaians more than one reason to vote for them come December 7.

For the New Patriotic Party, free education, restoration of allowances for teachers and nurses as well as fixing the National Health Insurance Scheme remained key promises they offered Ghanaians going into the December polls. The National Democratic Congress on the other hand promised massive infrastructural development describing what the party had done in the past years as the ‘tip’ of more development.

As fate would have it, Ghanaians, on the day of voting, opted for the party that professed change in the status quo, giving the NPP an overwhelming victory in both the presidential and parliamentary election.

On January 7, 2017, president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo will take office and become Ghana’s fifth president under the fourth republic.

But with some days for that to materialize, expectant Ghanaians seem to have a tall list of expectations the incoming president will have to satisfy in the shortest possible time.

Today, we take a look at five(5) things Ghanaians expect from president-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
