Some elderly women of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency have threatened to embark on a naked demonstration if the President refuses to appoint their preferred candidate as the Municipal Chief Executive of the locality.
Speaking in an interview, they appealed to President Akufo-Addo to appoint the right person from Ejisu constituency as their Municipal Chief Executive and also warned him to desist from appointing an outsider as their MCE else they would embark on a naked demonstration at the Flagstaff House.
The angry women clad in NPP colours were seen holding placards with inscriptions such as ‘who is Serwaa Derkye, please go to Effiduase; Mr. President we want the right person from Ejisu; No outsider from Ejisu Constituency as MCE’.
Appointments of MCEs have been met with some resistance either by members of the community or some party functionaries providing one reason or the other to justify their actions.
