The incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has urged Ghanaians to be moderate and measured in their Christmas celebrations to avoid any unpleasant happenings that will be injurious to them as individuals and the nation.

According to the party, which won the December 7 election to form the next government on January 7 2017, the benefits of change will begin to manifest next year after the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been sworn into office.

The party, in a Christmas message, appealed to Ghanaians to remember the president-elect and the NPP in their prayers so that they can be well-positioned to serve the best interest of the country after taking power.

“We want to use this occasion to reassure the nation that the incoming NPP government will seek effective partnership with all Ghanaians, individuals and groups, as we work together to ensure that the new era of change engenders the kind of progress and prosperity that will satisfy the needs and aspirations of the people,” a statement signed by acting General Secretary John Boadu said.

Full statement below:

Once again, another end of year is here, and the New Patriotic Party wishes all Ghanaians, and non-Ghanaian residents in the country, a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Once again, another end of year is here, and the New Patriotic Party wishes all Ghanaians, and non-Ghanaian residents in the country, a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

As we observe this occasion, let us all understand and appreciate the fact that we all have contributions to make towards the development of our dear country.

It is, therefore, important to remind ourselves of the need to be moderate and measured in our celebrations to avoid any unpleasant happenings that will be injurious to us as individuals and the nation.

More importantly, we are celebrating this year’s holidays at a time the change we had all been yearning for in the political leadership of the country has been made possible through the support Ghanaians offered the NPP during the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

It is our firm belief that the benefits of the change will begin to manifest next year after the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been sworn into office on January 7, 2017.

We want to appeal to all Ghanaians to remember the president-elect and the NPP in their prayers so that we can be well-positioned to serve the best interest of the country after taking power.

Once again, we wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
