A young entrepreneur has organized a network meeting in Ho in the Volta Region

to discuss new opportunities that can be considered to boost businesses and solve unemployment.

At the event held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, the youth had discussions on digital opportunities, specifically, how to make use of Social media in their endeavours.

They also had panel discussions, networking, motivational speeches, the use of Social media in entrepreneurship, and showcased business talents as well.

Engineer, Joshua Amegashie-Viglo, founder of Groove Hub, an Accra-based music production and promotion studio, is the brain behind the hangout.

Speaking at the event, he urged entrepreneurs, mostly the youth to take advantage of AI and Social media in their businesses.

"Social media is a tool, whatever you're doing you can put it on social media and enhance your output, or your reach, or your publicity. So you can create content on finance if it becomes very popular you can create a microfinance company and it can become a bank".

He shared his personal experience of how he started his business journey by posting content on YouTube which has eventually become the business that has employed three direct employees as well as others indirectly.

"I created content on music, it went viral and it has become a music studio where we're doing music production and promotion," he said.

He believes the use of social media can boost the country's economy and that will certainly solve about 50% of youth unemployment.

"Assuming there are fifty thousand unemployed youth in Ghana or Ho. Assuming just one thousand out of them decided to go on social media to create useful content on what they do and they get the opportunity to employ twenty people each, that will be two hundred thousand employees, the unemployment will be solved so it can bring a whole economic boom".

He also added that social media is a multi-billion dollar industry that can be used to export content and promote business which can lead to businesses getting the opportunity to export their works, crafts and services that will in turn earn foreign exchange for individuals as well as the nation at large.

Participants welcomed the idea and applauded the Groove Hub for the opportunity with some sharing some of their personal experience of how they have used social to improve their businesses.
