Alhaji Yusif Tahiru, the Zongo Chief of Ashalaja in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra Region, has called on government for support with basic social amenities in the community.
Alhaji Tahiru said the community needed extra classroom blocks to facilitate teaching and learning in the community and to larger extent increase literacy among citizenry.
He said more than 80 pupils share one classroom and this has made classroom activities very cumbersome.
Alhaji Tahiru said the water crisis had over the years has become a major challenge for residents in Ashalaja and its surrounding communities.
On health, he said, there is no clinic in the area, and members of the community have to travel all the way to Amasaman or Nsawam to seek medical attention and care.
Alhaji Tahiru also called on Minister for Zongo and Inner City Development to assist in the completion of the Islamic school in the area.
